how it all began
JADINGHEART.COM started during my first months of university in 2003 because I was bored and the English classes I was taking weren’t doing it for me for creativity. It all started with this post and it barreled from there. Mostly formatted like a Sex and the City episode with Carrie Bradshaw at the helm, I wrote and wrote and wrote. I even got in trouble for it a couple of times and shut down the site for a month or two in 2005 because of it, losing a lot of my readers because of it. I came back with a vengeance and was less censored and less read; but I didn’t care. I felt better, actually, like I had less pressure.
Originally set out as a blog about a girl enduring the perils of university, which turned out to be a lot like high school, my precious jading heart, the real one, got the brunt of the entry dedications. Which explains why a lot of my older entries are riddled with “what does this mean? why isn’t he calling?” and so forth. Not to say I’ve matured so much - but since the beginning of this website, I think I have. For one, the site isn’t really just about my jading heart anymore. It’s about everything, which begins with my heart - cause that’s just the type of person I am.
Procrastination has taken over a lot in terms of writing quality material, but instead of creating a post based on an entry on a to-do list, I write when I feel it’s necessary and when it’s needed. This website has truly grown with me. From the design to the actual entries.
And it’s going to keep going. Sometimes, I can’t believe it’s been over four years.
